So…..an update. According to change.org, the petition to revise the new safety laws and regulations has made it to the top ten items that President Obama will address!!!! This is a pretty significant victory for the handmade community. We are pleased with this mighty turn of events, and hope that more changes are coming. As of now, the only exemptions we have read about include wool, cotton, silk, pearls and other gems. Since we know how many children’s toys are crafted with pearls and gemstones, that’s a HUGE relief. But don’t quote us on that now, the consumer safety commission is not even sure how this is all going to play out once the law goes into effect next month. Thanks goodness we kept our bedazzler, because we may need to drag that little baby out and start whipping out the gemstone beauties if we are forced out of business!!
